You thought it was impossible for another Nike "Hyper" basketball shoe to be dropped? Maybe you did, maybe you didn't. Either way, another Nike "Hyper" shoe has joined the family that includes the Hyperdunk and the Hyperfuse. This era of Hyperfuse we live in seems to bring us an endless variety of shoe drops. The new edition in the "Hyper" series is the Nike Hyperballer. Unlike the two previous Nike Hyperfuse shoes, the Hyperballer uses a different technology in the midsole and outsole. The infamous Nike Shox is used on this new shoe. Wow! When was the last time Shox was relevant? It doesn't matter actually, because this shoe is now making it very relevant.
As relevant as it once was. In 2000, the Nike Shox BB4 was dropped and sneakerheads could not get enough of them. And why not? This is the same shoe that Vince Carter rocked in the Olympic Games. The same shoe he dunked on the French 7-footer who shall remain nameless for the obvious reasons. The Nike Shox BB4 is still recognized as one of the best best basketball shoes ever made because of the incredible responsiveness of the Nike Shox technology. The Shox BB4 used technology that was actually 16 years in the making. The Shox BB4 used technology that was meant to absorb heel strike impact and transfer it to the forefoot for explosive foot movements.
The Shox technology was a little different than the new technology that was used in the Hyperballer. Whereas the old Shox was a very durable rubber, the new Nike Shox technology has placed a Max Air bag in each of the four pods that make up the Shox cushioning system. This new system makes the shoe softer and provides much more cushion. It also makes the shoe more responsive while providing better transition.
So, what do you get when you combine the new Shox technology with the incredibly innovative Hyperfuse technology? A pair of Nike shoes for basketball that performs at the highest performance standards that can be measured in a basketball shoe. While the Shox technology provides the highest standard of cushioning and responsiveness. The Hyperfuse technology provides the standard of stability, durability, and lightweight performance. The Nike Hyperballer has it all.
With the release of the Hyperdunk, it looks like Nike has captured all the elements of it's innovative technological design. There is no way Hyperfuse technology can be used on any other shoe in any other way. Well..... I wouldn't bank on that. Chances are, the next Nike Hyperfuse shoe is right around the corner.
